Getting a dental xray with Dr. Fanning

After having an initial consultation, every patient will need to get a dental xray. East Coast Orthodontics uses Dr. Brendan Fanning, a local Dublin dental radiologist who uses the latest in digital xray equipment.

Digital dental xrays produce only one-fifth the amount of radiation as conventional xray machines.

There are two types of necessary xrays:


OPG (Orthopantomogram)

The first is called an OPG (more information on OPG xrays from wikipedia). This costs €50.


Lateral Cephalometry

The second type of xray is a Lateral Ceph (more information here). This xray can be taken with an OPG xray above for the price of €80.


It may be necessary to get further xrays as treatment progresses to see how the patient is reacting to their braces.

The practice is in the Belfield area and serviced by many regular buses: 46A, 10, 145.

By car from Stillorgan direction: take the UCD slip road. Turn right at lights onto bridge, while staying in the left lane. Turn rightat lights and then left and left again at junction. Continue on keeping Cranford Center on your right and number 174 is on right in (old) Stillorgan Road cul-de-sac.

From city: take UCD slip road, take 1st left, then left again and No. 174 is on the right
