Getting X-Rays

After having an initial consultation, every patient will need to get a dental x-ray. East Coast Orthodontics uses Dr. Rory Boyd of Belfield Dental, a local Dublin dental radiologist who uses the latest in digital x-ray equipment. Digital dental x-rays produce only one-fifth the amount of radiation as conventional x-ray machines.

There are 2 types of necessary x-rays:

1. OPG (Orthopantomogram): This is called an OPG and it costs €50.

2. Lateral Cephalometry: The second type of xray is a Lateral Ceph. This xray can be taken with an OPG xray above for the price of €80

It may be necessary to get further x-rays as treatment progresses to see how the patient is reacting to their braces.
